There's still a baby in there

Popped in for the something week ultrasound last week!  The tech confirmed that there is indeed a baby still in there!

This trip was a redo.  Owen doesn't love to pose for the camera.  So, they weren't able to get all the shots they wanted to at the last one.  Particularly the kidneys.  Last trip, there was no view of the kidneys.  Of course, to parents that means he has no kidneys and something is wrong.

But, it was just because he wouldn't get into the right position.  This last appointment, we confirmed there are kidneys.

Here are some photos for you to admire.

We brought Desmond along with us on this trip.  The tech printed out for him his very own photo.  He took it to school with him and, according to the principal, was showing everyone!  He was apparently very proud. :-)  He'll be a great big bro, me thinks.

Baby Picture of the Day - Rebooted!

I did these way back in the beginning of the blog.  Mostly because there were funny or cute baby pictures that I wanted to share.

Or...I wanted to make fun of something.  Today is one of the latter.

Here is your today's BBOTD:

Why, Jason, would you post such a random picture?

Well, allow me to answer that.

You see, when I gazed at this picture, I had one thought.  In the time that passed between the original picture and the picture of the baby, how the heck did that not realize that this is totally lame?

That's all.  If you have a baby, or are thinking of having a baby, please don't mail me some announcement of you when you were gazing longingly into the mirror imagining your baby.

Baby picture of the day.

It's been a while, but this one is pretty fitting...and, it cracks me up every time I see it.

Shout out to Tilly

Congrats to Meghan (my friend and HR mentor) and her husband Mark.

On September 27, Meghan gave birth to little Matilda, pictured here. We're already discussing dowry for when Tilly and Desmond get married.

Sorry it's been a little while

So, I know it's been a little while since my last post. There really isn't a whole lot to talk about. I spent the last week in Austin. Shaundar is uncomfortable and cranky most of the time.

A colleague at Shaundar's work offered to take maternity pictures for us. Today is the big day. And, much like the day of our wedding which was also supposed to be outdoors, it's raining. I guess summer is finally over. What a stupid summer it's been. It doesn't get warm until July, then we have a beautiful first 2 weeks in September only to have it go away on the day we really want it to be sunny.

Oh, well...until my next post, here is a Baby Picture of the Day to tide you over.

Baby Picture of the Day

Poor kid. Not only does being dragged to a political event when when you would much rather be biting the dog suck...But, it's a Hillary event. Gack! The child will be permanently scared. She'll probably want to move to Canada, or something.

Hey Baby Video of the day

By the way...Gwen Stefani recently gave birth to her second son and named him Zuma?

This can also be characterised under "when I'm a dad, I promise not to." I promise not to name my kid after an Aztec.

Or a video game.

A visit from Alina and company

So, our friends, Leanne, Tiffany, and Tiffany's daughter Alina are in town this weekend. Here's a picture of Alina and Leanne by the beach at Alki. Taken with my phone, so it's not great. I'll try to snap some with the better camera while they're here.

Anyway...Alina is super cute. But, man does she have a set of lungs. The first day she was here, she had a bit of a meltdown. Granted, she had been on a plane and then in the car for quite a while. I probably would have had a meltdown, too. The point of bringing it up isn't to highlight the meltdown. It's to highlight what we all could do about it.

Nothing.

Nothing would soothe this kid. Tiffany was driving, trying to say calming things to her. I was making my best funny faces, much funnier than the one I normally wear. Nothing was working. It was like all the sorrow in the world had landed upon her and she was going to make sure we know how she felt about it.

This is probably the #1 thing I am worried about being a father. I am excited to meet my son and to have fun and do daddy things. The crying, the fits, the meltdowns...all this freaks me out. How the heck do you deal with that?

I know everyone has their methods. I'm sure if I had an audience of 100 readers, I would probably get 101 responses to that question. It's something we'll have to figure out. But, man...I'm not looking forward to that part.

Still...Alina is super cute.

Baby Picture of the Day

As a side note...today, for the picture, I simply searched MSN for "baby." Under related searches, it gave me "Anderson Cooper."

What?

Muppet Babies Picture of the Day

Hey...Muppets have babies, too.

Actually...do Muppets actually HAVE babies? I mean, the Muppet Babies are just baby versions of the adult Muppets. And, didn't they live in an orphanage? Do they all have the same parents (making it very likely that said parents are super freaky) or did various mammels and reptiles and whatever-Scooter-and-Skeeter-are-ses have talking babies that stand erect at the same time. Why isn't National Geographic on this? I mean, they can put together a video of the inside of a womb (with the help of computer animation) but they can't figure out how a singing frog came to be?

And, who the heck is Skeeter, anyway? We never see her again? I'm betting she realized that there were better things in life than working on a variety show with B-list celebrities.
