Baby picture of the day.

It's been a while, but this one is pretty fitting...and, it cracks me up every time I see it.

Can you see the glory of God radiating from Desi?

Desi was baptised last weekend!

The baptism went very well. Father Jack and Our Lady of Guadeloupe let us in without requiring me to take the class (I am signed up for the first week of May) so that my mom could be there. Biggest downside is that Ryan, Desi's Godfather, couldn't get off work. It was done on pretty short notice.
Other than that, it went well. I know Father Jack from Gonzaga. He filled in for OLG's priest (also a Father Jack), for the entire service. I thought his service was very good. Humorous, too. I always like when the sermon makes people laugh, a bit. Keeps everyone awake.
So...funny story. Desi only poops every three days or so. And, when he poops, it's big. As of the time of the baptism, he hadn't pooped in three days. Well...we made it through the ceremony, but not much after. Sure enough, we sat down to dinner and he blew out in his cute little white christening outfit. That's my boy.

Baseball is back!

Baseball season is in full swing, again. And, my team is actuall showing a lot of promise, this year!

I became a Mariners fan in 2001 and I have attended every Mariners Home Opener since 2002. This year, Desi went with! And...He hated it!!!

We arrived a bit early to watch the ceremonies before the game. Off topic a bit, I found humor in the "rules" sign on the bus. Here it is. Can you see what's funny (you may need to click to enlarge in order to see better)?

I quickly learned that Desi hates fireworks. They went off for every starting player. Each one made Des jump and start crying.

Also...Safeco Field is right next to the train tracks. Trains frequenly toot their horns while passing by. Desi hates this too.

Oh, and Desi hates really loud cheering which is commen in a sold out park on Opening Day.

He was all dressed up in his Mariners gear:

For the record, Pancakes is a nickname I was given at work. Desi is now nicknamed Short Stack.

Here are Andie, Kevin, and Duncan...friends from our PEPS group:

Auntie Kelley loves having her picture taken!

Like the rest of Seattle... Desmond was SUPER excited about the return of Ken Griffey, Jr. I made sure to catch his reaction as Jr. made his first hit at Safeco Field since returning as a Mariner. Here it is:

Clearly, the babies weren't digging the baseball action, so we decided to retreat to a nice little family restauarant on Lake Union:

So...Opening Day wasn't all I was hoping it would be. But, it was fun. Mariners beat the Angels and are currently in 1st Place!!! We left at about the 6th inning because the babies were antsy and hungry and just generally mad at us for dragging them along. Still...baseball with my baby...priceless!
Go Mariners!

Grandma goes outside her bubble!

Congrats to my mother. She has decided to break out of her bubble and experiment.

Today, she ate sushi!

Shaundar and I, alone with many people in the Northwest, and, in fact, the world, really enjoy sushi. Unfortunately, when you live in a small town, you don't get to try the good stuff and you develop a deterant for anything out of the ordinatry...like the fact that it's okay to eat raw fish.

Well...my mother put all that aside and dove in...well, as much as my mother, who can only eat in very small doses, can actually dive into something.

Tried by mom:
Unagi (eel)
Sake (salmon)
Kani Kama (imitation crab)
and some other stuff.

Congrats, mom!

Desi's first baby birthday party

We attended our first baby birthday party as parents. I'm not sure Des really knew what was going on. But, we had a good time. Thanks to Sarah, Nick and Baby George. You can find more about their family on their blog, linked at the bottom right of my page.

Birthday boy, George, opening presents with Mom, Sarah.

Check out my new work digs

On Monday, my team moves to our new office building. Check out a video preview:

It's going to be pretty sweet. You can probably guess...Microsoft is huge. Right now, my team sits in an extension campus that isn't owned by the company. It's in a business park down by the rock quarry...no joke.

The company built a new campus just for the Entertainment and Devices team. The first groups have already started moving in. We move this weekend. The rest of the groups will trickle in until the end of the year.

Oh...and, I have a window! I'm super excited about this because I have spent the last 4.5 years in an interior office with florescent lights, which I hate. Natural light from now on, baby!!!

I don't know how people do this...

Shaundar's been back to work over a month. I'm really just starting this full time back at work and full time parent, thing. Holy crap...I am beat.

Shaundar's a machine. I mean, she screams and hollers at me a lot, but she's still able to take care of the baby really well after a long day of work. Me? I'm ready for bed as soon as I get home. Sometimes, even before that, which is bad since I typically drive the vanpool home from work. It's not safe to sleep and drive. Don't know if you were aware of that.

Mom is still at home with Desi. Seriously...I have no clue what's going to happen when she leaves. She cooks, she cleans, and she takes care of the baby. When we have to add cooking and cleaning to our evening routines, I think we'll be the walking dead.

I can't NOT chime in on this Supreme Court thing

So, it's no secret on this page that I am rapidly pro-life.  I don't beat around the bush on this topic.  But, what you may not know...
